Watched "Hancock" last night. Great movie indeed, lots of fun!

*** SPOILER ***

I had a hunch from watching the trailer that the PR guy's wife had super powers too. Was half-expecting her to be the villain.

I didn't quite get the story behind Hancock's name.
***MORE SPOILER***

I think I must have missed those trailers. O.o I was totally taken by surprise, thought it was a little campy at first, but it was so wonderfully imperfect.

You know who the actual John Hancock is, right? One of the men to sign the Declaration of Independence; I think he was supposed to have been the first (knowledge of history is a little rusty). So, a common way of telling someone to sign document is to tell them to sign their "John Hancock", meaning their signature. Hancock thought they were telling him that was his name, not getting the slang at the time. *L*

Ah, roger that.

And no I didn't know the actual John Hancock, my knowledge of (US) history is even more rusty than yours because I'm not american.

I've just read up on this in Wikipedia: [link]

Apparently the slang to put one's "John Hancock" somewhere was due to the fact that his signature was by far the biggest one on the declaration of independence.
Well, I certainly didn't know that "the" declaration of indepencence (the one on exhibition in the National Archives) was signed not on the 4th of july but much later on the 2nd of august 1776.
Yay for Wikipedia

Strange, there's nothing about the hidden message on the back of the declaration...
